The Power Of Conditioning

Posted on: October 18, 2012

Why are you doing that? I don’t know! You know the repercussions right! I know! Then why are you doing that? I said i don’t know now get off me already! Classical conversation that won’t “make” the other person stop doing what they are doing and in fact only enhance them to do that same thing more! So what is it that is in us that makes us do what we shouldn’t (and we all have something we hate doing but we still do!)….it’s called conditioning!

When an activity is done repeatedly(benchmark is 21 days) it becomes a habit but done over time, it becomes conditioning! Now what is the solution to this hard-wired dilemma? Pattern interrupt and more consciously scheduled thinking!

95% of us rarely “think” in terms of  the big WHY we are doing what we do! Everything is kind of automated from years and years of mental conditioning and mirroring! Marketers especially the extremely strategic ones disrupt  the hard-core embedded patterns and divert you to their intentions without using loud obnoxious words or messages and as a matter of fact the more subtle the message the more effective it is! Though manipulative, it works like a charm but the ultimate methodology is to get to the realms of cause and effect which is essentially the WHY?

So if we rarely think about our actions..(and this is not to undermine your intelligence but to bring to consciousness a pattern because if we did, why do many of our actions go against logic? or are counter-intuitive?) the true secret is in creating a system and having bells and whistles in place that pre-think on our behalf so that we can focus on action! People who save money, eat healthy foods, workout, read books, come up with great ideas have removed the act of thinking! Thinking is like saying no mentally to a body that says yes. It’s a struggle..it’s a fight and we rarely win! Ever tried going on a diet or exercising or not drinking beer or not doing the things that we “love” but are “not” supposed to do? Hard right? Why? Will power and discipline are not enough!

You need a system! These systems think on our behalf so that we can focus on the action! Because(suicidal grammatical syntax error!) action is the root of results…good or bad is all relative but with the system in place we can tweak that……most important thing is action! Besides, who wants to constantly “chant” i must exercise just to convince themselves…lot of work. Start by having a big goal, then a small one and then a smaller small one. As you knock the smaller small one you feel energized to work on the small one and so forth….You don’t think anymore because you are too busy doing! Action and thought don’t pair very well simultaneously!

Enjoy Your Thursday and start conditioning yourself to the results you want to see manifest!
