How 3 Strangers Met,Talked Became Friends and Published The First Book Via Skpe

Posted on: December 22, 2011

I had no idea how it was going to be done, all i knew is that it was going to be done. I had this desire to write a book to help a college grad find out something meaningful to do after graduation.I had this desire to write a book help a recently unemployed individual find meaningful profitable activity to get involved in. I was driven to write a book about making a difference! Question is i didn’t know how and i didn’t want to write this one alone! One day, a friend of mine sent me a  TED video by Noam Kostucki and i was like this guy is talking my language. I resonated with his message and i knew i had to get a hold of this guy. So through Facebook i sent him a message and asked him if we could do a book together on Branding. I even forgot about the email and almost 2 weeks later, he wrote back!He promptly agreed and the birth of a Skype collaboration was born.

We called each other mostly on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays and just talked like friends do. Then we discussed the transitions with personal development and especially the branding space. We shared resources and at the end we bid our goodbye’s. After almost 4 months of talking, we recorded the conversations and finally set a deadline for the book.

We announced we were looking for an author who would add more value by transforming the conversations to a book and in comes Ben Leates, the backbone of the team. He was the absolute missing link. He professionally transformed our conversations from audio to written and eliminating all bias, he painted that picture beautifully.Careful choice of words without altering the meaning! He wrote the first and second and third edit and we would read and suggest alterations and December 21st 2011, the whole picture came to light.

Not all went smooth like it is on this post. There was one time we had talked and talked for almost 3 hours and all that footage was lost. It was sad. Top notch material all gone with no shred of evidence! Arrrrrgggggghhhhh and i didn’t know what and how to tell Noam.

The book in a nutshell talks about the different ways one can stand out and get either the job,or the business one seeks. Wouldn’t you agree, a well branded individual gets better opportunity then an unbranded one? Then is it true to say that, a well connected person who has intimately built his network has a higher chance of getting hired? Truly when all is considered, the only difference between you and Oprah Winfrey is the branding. Recognized brands get paid more, get more opportunities and grow their networks. Now you can too, one step at a time, one person at a time. Don’t take my word for it. Try it!

PS: While working on this project, we were endorsed by a celebrity from the UK.
